Pestcotek Provides Pest Control For Grantham And The Whole County

At Pestcotek, we deal with and control every type of pest species you are likely to encounter in the county of Lincolnshire. It doesn’t matter what it is, we have been there and done that, so unless something arrives from another planet that we have never seen before, we can deal with whatever pest problem you have. Even if something does arrive from another planet, we will inspect it, learn about it, and then know how to remove it. Getting rid of pests is what we do.

There are quite a number of different pests that can get into your home or business, too. Spring is the time of year when Ants become a problem. They can enter the home and cause a nuisance in the kitchen and on work surfaces. Pestcotek use the latest insecticides to achieve full and long term control of ants.

Fleas can be another problem, even if you don’t have any pets. You could live in a block of flats and other residents have pets which could drop fleas on to the carpeting on the stairs. As you walk up the stairs, a flea can jump on you and grab a lift up to your flat. The first you will know about it is some time later when you keep getting bitten, and you suddenly spot a small black flea on your leg. Fleas can also lie dormant in carpets for as long as ten months, so you can be away from home, come back, and find that the fleas have woken up again. All of this is without having any pets yourself.

How to Get Rid Of Ants

Many pests, such as ants, can get into your home when they discover a source of food. They usually move into the home looking for food, shelter, warmth, and moisture. Ants move in a queue and once they have found their way into your home, others will follow. They leave a scent trail so that their brother and sister ants know where to go.

The problem is that if you want to know how to get rid of ants because you have ants in your kitchen, you probably don't want to go and buy a pesticide because the kitchen is where you prepare food.

The first thing to note when you want to know how to get rid of ants is that they have to have entered your home somewhere. They could be coming in through an open door or window, or a small crack next to where a pipe enters your home, for instance. When you find the point of entry you need to clean it and seal it with something such as a silicone sealant.

How to Get Rid Of Bed Bugs

If you want to know how to get rid of bed bugs, the best way is not to bring them home in the first place! As global travel increases, more and more people are finding that they have a problem with bed bugs.

Bed bugs are not only found in beds! They can also be found in headboards and bedside cabinets, wardrobes, skirting boards, chairs, throws, in carpets and underlay, in skirting board cracks, and also on luggage stands. They like to live close to where their next meal is and that is in your bed.

If you want to know how to get rid of bed bugs the first thing is to know what they look like. Adults are a reddish-brown colour and 5 – 6 mm long. You may see dark stains on sheets and blankets, and this is their excreta after they have had a good feed on your blood. You may also see red stains if they have been crushed after feeding, and that is blood after it has been eaten but not digested.

Bed bugs can lay up to 500 eggs over a couple of months and these are 1 mm long and white in colour. As they grow, bed bugs shed their skin until they become full adults and if you see signs of shed skin it usually means that you have a large infestation. They also give off a sweet scent which is reminiscent of almonds.

If you have been abroad, you want to take every precaution against bed bugs and the first thing to do is to wash all your clothes at a temperature of at least 60° and tumble dry them for 30 minutes. You should inspect your luggage, beds, clothes and furniture for any signs, and keep your rooms tidy since you can more easily see sings of infestation.

Furthermore, if you want to know how to get rid of bed bugs, the best thing to do is to call in the professionals. There are some DIY pesticides that you can buy, but they are not all that effective.

A Lovely Wild Creature Can Become a Pest in Your Home

The vast majority of people love nature. We love to see animals, both in their natural habitat and in zoos, which is why zoos exist in the first place. It allows us to get up close and personal with creatures from other countries that we may only have seen on the TV or in films. It also allows us to see animals and fish (think sharks) that it could be very dangerous to get close to in the wild.

Many of us like to see a squirrel running up and down a tree, either out in the garden or in the countryside. We probably love to see rabbits, cows, sheep, pigs, and more.

However, some of these very same creatures can turn from lovable to a pest overnight it they invade our privacy. A squirrel in a tree may be lovely, but when it has decided to make your loft its' home, that very same creature becomes a pest. Rabbits can get into your garden from the field next door and chew all the bark off your trees, causing them to die. OK, cows, sheep, and pigs are not likely to enter your garden, although having said that this writer suffered that exact experience some years ago when the local farmer left a gate unlocked one February day.

Looking out of the kitchen window, suddenly fourteen cows had arrived in the front garden and were munching the grass! Not pests, but certainly a nuisance. To be fair, the farmer paid for the damage they did to the lawn, because it was February and very wet.

Other creatures are just a plain nuisance such as wasps. You need a same day pest service if you have wasps in your loft, or for that matter bees. You also need a same day pest service if you see a mouse in the kitchen. If you see one mouse, you can bet you have lots of them.

Suppose you find that you have bed bugs? You most certainly need a same day pest service, because you have to sleep in that bed the same night!
